When I became a facilities director in 1997 right out of the military, I was looking for resources to help me perform my job better. I took some classes through Building Owners Management Association (BOMA) that were useful, but not specific to schools.
Lake Shore Public Schools started fostering a relationship with a school in Beijing, China in 2005. The program started out with having middle school students make two-week exchange trips. Within five years, 88 Chinese 11th grade students started attending Lake Shore High School for entire year.
